Kathryn Hope Chase Estle, 72 year old Broken Arrow, OK resident. Better known as Kate departed this earthly world on August 1, 2014 at Broken Arrow, OK. Kate was born March 5, 1942 in Claremore, OK to Burr Nathan and Maymie Mae Haikey Chase. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Kate had touched in some small way throughout her short, yet very memorable life.
Kate was raised in Woodward, OK attending Woodward Public Schools. She graduated with the Class of 1960. Kate married Edwin “Bud” Estle at her parent’s home on August 17, 1963. The couple was blessed with two daughters, Diana and Dana. The family followed Bud’s work with Coca Cola living in several communities before making Broken Arrow home.
Kate’s life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by her understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Her gentle smile and astute disposition brought so much joy to her family.
In the final days she gave us all such courage and hope and reminded us of the preciousness of life. She loved to be surrounded by her family and many friends. She could spend hours just talking of all the things to come and things that have past. She loved bragging on her two daughters and especially her grandchildren. She cuddled close to those she loved so much. She enjoyed music and reading and generally taking charge of anything that would benefit or help other people.
Kate was preceded in death by her parents, Burr and Maymie Chase and brother-in-law, Bill Crooks. She is survived by her husband, Bud Estle of the home in Broken Arrow, OK; daughters, Diana Dophied and husband Jerry of Heath, TX and Dana McQueen and husband Mac of Broken Arrow, OK; four sisters, Marian Stout and husband Herb of Woodward, OK, Patricia Crooks of Siloam Springs, AR, Carolyn Chase of Woodward, OK, Joyce Hunter and husband Jim of Yukon, OK; brother George Chase and wife Vicki of Carrollton, TX; three grandchildren, Christopher Nathan James Dophied, Victor Ray McQueen and Kathryn Hope McQueen; other family and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held at the First Christian Church at 1:00p.m. on August 5, 2014. Burial will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery.
