Evelyn L. (Bohanan) McIntyre was born May 31, 1922 in Retrop, Ok to Charley Lee
and Mary Ann Bohanan, and died June 11, 2020 in Yukon, OK at the age of 98 years
and 11 days.
Evelyn grew up and attended school in Retrop, OK. She was married to Verne L.
“Jay” McIntyre on June 6, 1942. She attended business school in OKC after
graduating from high school. Upon finishing business school, she worked for the
Federal Reserve Bank in downtown OKC until her first child was born. She spent
the majority of her life as a homemaker who loved sewing, quilting, gardening,
teaching Sunday School, volunteering at Vacation Bible School, and playing
dominoes. She worked briefly in her later years at Dub Richardson Ford but then
returned to homemaking in order to spend more time with her grandchildren and
great grandchildren. She was also a member of the Piedmont Nazarene Church.
She was preceded in death by parents, 1 daughter, Anna Mae Smith; 1 grandson,
Paul D. Duran Jr.; and 5 brothers.She is survived by her 3 daughters, Phyllis Clark and husband, John, Shawnee,
OK, Pam Butler and husband, Dan, Yukon, OK, and Karrie McIntyre, Warr Acres, OK;
9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; 2 sisters,
Elwanda Lundy and her husband Dean, Carter, OK, Amo Jean Griffin and husband,
Charlie, Borger, TX, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and
friends.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30, Friday June 19, 2020 at Piedmont Church of
The Nazarene with Pastor Darrik Acre officiating.
Interment will follow at 3:30
PM at Retrop Cemetery in Sentinel, OK.
