DOROTHY M. WILSON

Mrs. Dorothy M. Wilson, formerly of Tonkawa, was born June 11, 1920, in Philadelphia, PA, and passed away Thursday, November 24, 2011, in Tulsa, after a lengthy illness.

She was preceded in death by husband, Alex N Wilson, Jr., son Alex N. (Doc) Wilson III, son Leonard Lee Wilson; son-in-law, Ralph Lee Jones; parents Louis and Catherine (McClusky) Lotka, and six brothers and four sisters.

She is survived by daughters Dr. Kathryn Jones, Tulsa; Karen Wilson and husband Duncan Searle, Eugene, OR; son, David Wilson and wife Machelle, Tulsa; grandson Layne Jones and wife Tara, Bartlesville; grandsons Ryne Wilson, Edmond; Evan Wilson, Stillwater; Brooks and Brady Wilson, Tulsa; grandson Steven Wilson and wife, Simi of Ft Lewis, Washington; great-grandchildren, Blake Johnston and Marlee Kathryn Jones, Bartlesville; great-grandchildren, Kobe and Sonia Wilson, Ft Lewis, Washington; older sister, Mrs. Grace Conway, Philadelphia and many nieces and nephews.

She graduated from high school in Philadelphia and attended Oklahoma A & M (now OSU). Mrs. Wilson followed her husband’s coaching and school career in Orlando, Sumner, Greenfield, Mountain View, Crescent, Weatherford, Mountain Park, and Red Rock. She moved to Tonkawa in 1982 after retirement and later served as a dorm mother at Northern Oklahoma College. She loved watching her children and grandchildren in sports and school activities and dearly loved her Oklahoma State University Cowboys.

Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 29, 2011, at Fairlawn Cemetery in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Her son

Alex N Wilson, III, “Doc”, was born on December 5, 1945, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, to Alex N. (Jr.) and Dorothy Wilson and died April 10, 2011. He attended grade school in Stillwater and Greenfield (OK) before moving to Mountain View (OK) to begin the seventh grade and where he graduated from high school. His father was a football and basketball coach in different schools in the southwestern part of Oklahoma. Throughout high school, Doc excelled in both football and basketball as a Mountain View Tiger, and, as a senior, Doc was selected to the All-State Football team. He received a full scholarship to play football at Murray State College in Tishomingo and then transferred with a football scholarship to Northwestern Oklahoma State University (Alva) where he graduated with his bachelor’s degree. Several years later, he also received his master’s degree from Northwestern. He taught and coached in Mulvane, Kansas; Tahlequah, Talihina, Rotan, Texas; Valliant, Poteau and was teaching once again in Talihina at the time of his death. Doc is survived by his mother, Dorothy Wilson of Tulsa, sisters, Kathryn Wilson Jones of Tulsa, and Karen Wilson of Eugene, Oregon; and brother, David Wilson and his wife, Machelle of Tulsa. Additionally, he is survived by nephews: Layne Jones and his wife, Tara of Enid; Steven Wilson and his wife, Simi of Ft. Lewis, Washington; Ryne, Evan, Brooks and Brady Wilson of Tulsa; great niece, Marlee Kathryn Jones of Enid; great nephew Blake Johnston of Enid; and great nephew Koby Wilson of Ft. Lewis, Washington. He was preceded in death by his father, Alex N. Wilson, Jr. and his brother Leonard Wilson. Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 13th at the Talihina High School football field. Officiating will be Jeff Medders, David Wilson, Layne Jones and James Brigance. Burial will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Honorary casketbearers will be Layne Jones, Steven Wilson, Ryne Wilson, Evan Wilson, Brooks Wilson, Brady Wilson, James Brigance, James Cody Brigance, David Holt and Jim Bierschmidt. Memorials may be made to the Talihina Football Booster Club, c/o Talihina High School, 601 First Street, Talihina, Oklahoma 74571.
