Mary Lee LaFollette, 87, passed from this life with her family by her side at her home in Stillwater on Thursday, January 22, 2015. There will be a family visitation on Tuesday from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 28 at Sunnybrook Christian Church, Stillwater, Oklahoma. Jim Johnson and Paul Weece will officiate. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She was born on October 19, 1927 to Chester and Nellie Bilyeu in Stillwater, Oklahoma. She married Garland Wayne LaFollette on May 26, 1945 at the Payne County Courthouse.
Mary was a beloved wife and soul mate, patient and loving mother, MeMe, Grandma and Grandmother. She loved life and her family. She was extremely passionate about spending time with her grand and Great Grand children. She loved being involved with her kids in their school activities at Morrison. Over the years she was an active member of her churches, The American Legion Auxiliary and several bowling leagues. Mary Lee was a homemaker but also operated Family Quality Clothing Store in Morrison and helped with other family owned businesses. She loved to travel and collect rocks, coffee mugs, and match books from places she visited. She also collected angels and looked forward to her weekly coffee group.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Nellie Bilyeu; sister, Zola Sinclair; brother, Clifford Bilyeu and her grandson, Taz LaFollette.
She is survived by her husband, Garland LaFollette; sons, Gary W.LaFollette [Sharla] of Stillwater, Mike LaFollette [Franell] of Milton, Florida; daughters, Linda Taylor [Jerry] of Del City, Teresa Moser [Kent] of Perry, Charlotte Bowling of Morrison; grandchildren Kerri LaFollette, Kris LaFollette, Kimberly Davis [Jamie], Gavin LaFollette [Carrie], Bettina Ayala [Julius], Lanette Bumgardner [Steven], Leslee Jones [Leon], Eric Moser [Krystan], Dahrenda Shaw [Brett], and fourteen great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Greg LaFollette, Steve LaFollette, John Pryor, Dennis Bilyeu, Larry Leigh, and Dan Barrick.
