Linda Lou Compton, 67, passed from this life on Thursday, March 5 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The family will be receiving guests at Strode Funeral Home on Sunday, March 8th from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 10 at Strode Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor John Dickey will officiate. Interment will be at Fairlawn Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Linda was born on January 26, 1948 to Floyd Allen and Elizabeth Ann Decker in Dallas, Texas.
She married Ronald Dean Compton on September 17, 1966 in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
She graduated from Norman High School in 1966 and Northern Oklahoma College Nursing School, RN Program in 1988.
Linda was a wonderful daughter, sister, mother and grandmother. She loved her work, spending time with her children and grandchildren. In her spare time she loved to read, do cross stitch and spend time in her flower garden. While it wasn’t her favorite pastime she also painted every home she lived in and was as talented as many professionals.
Linda worked in the SMC-Emergency Department for 24 years. She impacted many lives through her dedicated and compassionate care as a nurse and caregiver throughout her lifetime.
As a young girl Linda traveled across the United States with her father and sister and loved telling stories about her adventures and exciting experiences.
Linda came to Stillwater immediately following her high school graduation and met her husband of 48 ½ years. Linda and her family lived a few years in Perkins and Tulsa, OK but the remainder of her life was spent in Stillwater.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Ruth; parents, Floyd Decker, Elizabeth and Richard Walker; and sister, Catherine Bumgarner.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Stilts (Jim), Homewood, Illinois; sons, Larry Compton, Stillwater, Kevin (Chrissy) Compton, Stillwater; grandchildren, Andrea, Callista, Deondrea, Dray, Kaylee, Trace and Cadence; brother-in-laws, Bob Compton (Carole), Livermore, CA; Keith Compton (Sally), Oklahoma City; and sister-in-law, Teresa Tully (Steve), Stillwater; many nieces and nephews and her SMC family.
