Carol Jean (VanSickle) Thomas, age 77, parted this life on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at her home in Bartlesville. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at the A.J. Powell Cemetery in Hominy, OK with Reverend Tom Kurt officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Walker-Brown Funeral Home. Carol was born on August 19, 1938 in Bartlesville, OK to Wren and Grace (Phelps) VanSickle. She was raised and received her education in Bartlesville graduating from College High School in 1956. She married Tommy Willy Thomas on July 16, 1985 in Miami, OK. Carol worked many years as a nurse aide. She loved animals, rescuing and caring for many stray and orphan animals needing a loving home. Carol is survived by her husband, Tommy Thomas of the family home. Two sons; Kenneth E. Downing and wife Denise of Ochelata, James Wesley Downing of Maryland and daughter, Machelle (Goff) Cereceres and husband Juan Carlos of Houston, TX. Stepson, Tommy Thomas Jr. and wife Marsha of Jackson, GA and daughter-in-law, Trish Thomas of Pawhuska. She was blessed with seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, brother, William VanSickle, two sisters, Betty Ryan and Rose Mary Klotz, grandson, Cody Downing and stepson, Roy Thomas.
