Jimmy Burgess, 62 year old Fort Supply resident, passed away, Tuesday, February 28, 2023 in Oklahoma City after a lengthy illness following back surgery. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 6, 2023 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Mount Olive Cemetery.
Jimmy Lee Burgess was born March 12, 1960 to Jessie Dallas and Alma Aldene (Long) Burgess in Shattuck, Oklahoma. Jimmy grew up in Fort Supply and graduated from Fort Supply High School.
Jimmy worked for Walmart and had other various volunteer positions. He currently was a Volunteer Outreach Assistant at Opportunities Incorporated in Woodward. Jimmy enjoyed his Ham Radios, astronomy, and fishing. He loved being a volunteer at his job, helping others, spending time with his family and his cat Angel.
Jimmy was a member of the Tri-State Amateur Radio Group and the Starcreek Astronomy Club.
He is survived by his mother, Aldene Burgess of Fort Supply; one brother, Jerry Burgess and wife Sarah of Piedmont; his beloved nephew, Christopher Burgess and his son Gauge; and other relatives and friends.
Jimmy is also survived by numerous loving friends that were like family: Johnnie Ferguson, Linda Cline, Polly Martin Stolze and her children Nicole, Sonny, Joyce, and Lacie.
He was preceded in death by his father, J.D. Burgess, paternal grandparents, Dallas and Lavern Burgess, and maternal grandparents, Carl and Maude Long and spouse Alma Ruth.
