Jerry Don Downey, 73 year old Woodward resident passed away, Saturday, November 11, 2023 in Oklahoma City. Graveside memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, December 28, 2023 in the May Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.
Jerry Don Downey was born to Frederic Laverne and Marjorie (Terry) Downey on September 4, 1950 in Sayre, Oklahoma. Don grew up in Sayre and graduated from Sayre High School. Don was united into marriage to Vicky Elaine Baggs on May 27, 1983 in Arapaho, Oklahoma. The couple then made their first home at Foss Lake. They also lived in Clinton, Oklahoma before settling in Woodward.
Don worked as an oilfield consultant for 45 years. In those 45 years he worked for, Haliburton, Otis and Continental. He often enjoyed fishing and his yorkie, Berkeley. Spending time with his children and grandchildren brought him the most joy.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Vicky Downey, his parents, and his step son, Rodney Groce.
He is survived by two daughters, Kim Downey Phillips, Dana Downey Harlow; one step son, Darren Groce and wife Jayme; brother, Clarence Vern Downey and wife Diane; sister Carolyn Downey Sloan and husband Ron; six grandchildren, Cade Clark, Madison Bruner, Nathan Bruner, Ryan Harlow, Jake Harlow, Evan Harlow; five great grandchildren, Adalyn Clark, Kaiser Clark, Miles Harris, Haze and Asher Harlow; niece Shelley; two nephews, Skipper and Jason; and other relatives and friends.
