Ida Crooks, 86 year old May resident, passed away Saturday, June 2, 2024 in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 17, 2024 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the May Cemetery.
Ida Rosa Crooks was born on September 3, 1937 in Woodward, Oklahoma to Cecil C. and Susie (Shaw) Crooks. Ida grew up in May, Oklahoma and graduated from May High School in 1955. She was united in marriage to Jerry Fanning on July 23, 1955 in May, Oklahoma. They were blessed with three sons: Max, Bill, and Tom. She worked for Western State Hospital as a Medical Records Manager and worked for 28 years, retiring on January 7, 2000.
She was a piano teacher, a 4-H leader and she loved raising her three sons. Ida played piano for numerous weddings and funerals. She was a member of the Oklahoma Health Information Management Association and she was the Records Coordinator to the Oklahoma Department of Libraries Archives and Records Division.
She is survived by her two sons: Bill Fanning and wife Kathryn, Tom Fanning and wife Michele; daughter-in-law, Christine Fanning; one sister Laura Bailey; nine grandchildren: Riley Fanning and wife Ashley, Katie Shirley and husband Luke, Kylie Moulton and husband Chris, Jake Fanning and wife Megan, Lane Fanning and wife Emily, Emily Shuping and husband Logan, Sarah Fanning, Carson Fanning and wife Ashley, Susan Mora and husband Luis; 13 great-grandchildren: Hallie Fanning, Bella Fanning, Rowen Fanning, Charli Fanning, Jolee Fanning, Ellis Shuping, Bowen Morton, Bhric Morton, Sloane Shirley, Carmen Shirley, Clayton Shirley, Paityn Moulton, Cooper Moulton; other relatives and friends.
Ida was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Susie Crooks, siblings, Mary Brown, Alice Kennedy, Charles Crooks, Curtis Crooks, her husbands, Lee Hunter, Delbert Crooks, and her son Max Fanning.
Memorial contributions may be made to the May Cemetery Association with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
