Graveside services for Alvern Albert Walters, Sr., 89, of rural Canton, Oklahoma will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at Fountain Cemetery west of Canton with Pastor Michael Grigsby officiating.

Alvern Albert Walters, Sr. was born August 30, 1934 at Fonda, Oklahoma to Alvey and Marie (Ames) Walters. He departed this life on Friday, December 29, 2023 at Okeene Municipal Hospital in Okeene, Oklahoma.

Alvern was raised in the Fonda community and attended school at Fonda and Seiling. He married Doris Wheeler on June 26, 1953 at Watonga, Oklahoma. Together they farmed and raised cattle. Alvern enjoyed talking on the C.B. radio in later years and was known as “Red Devil” on the air waves.

Alvern was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Doris; brothers Duane Walters and Ralph Walters; and by his niece, Robin Walters; Survivors include his son, Alvern “Jay” Walters, Jr. and wife Margaret of Washington state; brother Johnnie Walters and wife Aileen of Castle Rock, Colorado, sister Donna Charboneau and husband Junior of Seiling, Oklahoma and brother Leonard Walters and wife Terri of Canton, Oklahoma; grandchildren Jason Walters and Phillip and Penatha “Penny” Rossiter and husband Greg; great-grandchildren Mark Anthony Rossiter and Jason Matthew Rossiter; great-great-granddaughter Emma Marie Daly;

Memorials are suggested to the Fountain Cemetery with the funeral home serving as custodian at P.O. Box 36, Canton, OK 73724.
