Funeral services for Dennis Lee “Buddy” Tidball, 69, longtime resident of Canton, OK will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at the Canton Christian Church with Steve Driskill officiating. Interment will follow in Fountain Cemetery west of Canton under the direction of Haigler-Pierce Funeral Home, Canton, OK.

Dennis Lee Tidball was born August 26, 1944 and left us on July 3, 2014. Dennis was born on the old Thomas bridge to LaVonna Estee (Jones) Tidball and Elwyn Edward Tidball. He lived in the Canton/Oakwood area all his life. After graduating he joined the U.S. Army and served almost 2 years and fought in the Vietnam War. Sometime after he got back, he married Donna Schroeder for a short time. He then married (Kitty) Gladys Elaine Koesler on June 7, 1978 and took in her 3 children, Bonnie, Debbie and Rusty. They resided in Canton where he farmed and ranched and raised their three children and several foster children. They later adopted their 4 granddaughters: Karry, Kiesha, Cortney and Kristen.

Dennis was known as a man of honor. He was the John Wayne of Canton. He will be greatly missed by all. He is survived by his children; daughter Bonnie Edwards and husband Greg of Canton, OK, daughter Debbie Davis of Warner Robins, GA, son Rusty Staley and wife Leigh of Waycross, GA, Kiesha Dorough and husband Hunter of Brookwood, AL, Kristen Tidball of Brookwood, AL, P.R. Owens and Randi Owens both of Canton, OK and several foster children and 2 great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and two grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Canton Christian Church with the funeral home serving as custodian at P.O. Box 36, Canton, OK 73724. Condolences may be made online at www.haiglerpierce.com.
