GARY DUANE CYPERT

March 22, 1964 - August 11, 2017

Gary Duane “Cyp” Cypert was born March 22, 1964 at Wellington, KS to Rex Duane and Patricia Ann (Green) Cypert. He departed this life on Friday, August 11, 2017 at Watonga, OK. Gary was raised in Wellington, KS and graduated high school with the class of 1982. Gary moved to Fairview, OK after graduation, eventually settling in nearby Canton. He married Tiffany Brugada and they were blessed with four children. He later married Cheryl Houk and they were blessed with one child. He worked for 20 years at U.S. Gypsum in the packing department. Gary most recently worked for Brickman Oil Company. Gary enjoyed fishing for catfish, his Friday night card buddies, having Sunday cookouts, spending time with his children and grandchildren and playing softball. He loved watching his grandson Landon play baseball and hunting rattlesnakes in his younger (less wise) years. Gary will be remembered as a magnificent story teller.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents and his Aunt Sue Harmon; Survivors include son Michael Cypert of Winfield, KS, son Dane Cypert of Canton, OK, daughter Chelsea Strunk and husband JaCoby of Woodward, OK, daughter Hannah Cypert, son Tanner Cypert, son Tyler Houck and daughter Hannah Houk, all of Canton, OK; one brother, Mike Cypert and wife Donette, two sisters, Peggy Russell and husband Jeff and Diane Crittenden and husband Kurk, all of Wellington, KS; grandchildren Sawyer Cypert, Grayson Cypert, Landon Strunk, Kenzli Strunk, Khaleesi Cypert, Brody Houk and Brenner Houk; nieces and nephews Lance, Marsee, Stephanie, Danny, Libby, Kristin and Dillon; and numerous extended family members.

The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at the Canton Christian Church with Pastor Carroll Gilliland and Pastor Bruce Washington officiating. Interment will follow in Fountain Cemetery west of Canton under the direction of Pierce Funeral Home, Canton. Memorials may be made to the Trinity Baptist Church of Watonga, OK with the funeral home serving as custodian at P.O. Box 36, Canton, OK 73724.
