Fueral services for Bessie Beatrice (Hughes) Reed, a longtime Coal County resident, were held Saturday, February12, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Coalgate with Mr. Lloyd McElhaney officiating. Burial was in Pine Cemetery with Brown's Funeral Service of Coalgate in charge of arrangements
Mrs. Reed was born April 25, 1917 to George Washington and Savannah Jane (Vance) Hughes and passed away February 8, 2011 in Coalgate at the age of 93. She attended Pine Elementary and Coalgate High School and married Ross Reed on July 9, 1938 at Parker, OK. He preceded her in death on July 6, 2004. Mrs. Reed was a homemaker, worked for Blue Bell for 27 years and a member of Church of Christ in Coalgate.
Survivors include: Kerma Parrett and husband Bob of Atlanta, GA , Alva Reed and wife Doris of Moore, Ok, Calvin Reed and wife Emma of Mustang, Ok, George Reed and wife Linda of Moore, OK, Jim Reed and wife Peggy of Pauls Valley, OK, Logan Reed and wife Brenda of Coalgate, OK , Myrtle Liles and husband David of McKinney, TX. 16 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren; Sister, Loretta Musgrave of Guthrie, OK; Sister-in-law : Mildred Hughes of Coalgate, OK; along with many other relatives and many dear and loving friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Noble Hughes and Dewey Hughes; Sister, Mary Lou Smith.
Casketbearers were (Grandsons) David Reed, Jeff Reed, Greg Reed, Jason Reed, Stewart Reed, Brent Parrett, Steve Parrett Honorary Pallbearers: (Great Grandsons) Jacob Hart, Cody Sanders, Tyler Reed, David Parrett
Family night will Friday, February 11, 2011 from 6 to 8p.m.
