Funeral services for Vivian Edith "White" Howerton, a longtime Coal County resident, were held Monday November 3, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown's Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Mr. Lloyd McElhaney officiating. Burial was in Pine Cemetery with Brown's Funeral Service of Coalgate in charge of arrangements
Mrs. Howerton was born February 20, 1914 to Richard and Sindy Hardiway White in Kemp, OK and passed away October 30, 2008 in Coalgate at the age of 94. She attended Kemp schools and married Ela Howerton on March 9, 1937 in Antlers. Mrs. Howerton was a homemaker and a member of Church of Christ in Coalgate.
Survivors include two sons, Ervin Howerton and wife Macy of Wagoner, OK and E. C. Howerton and wife Nina of Claremore, OK; three daughters, Evonne Holmes and husband Lee of Choctaw, OK, Connie Barrick and husband Chief of Midwest City, OK, and Dorothy Elledge of El Reno, Ok; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; sixteen great-great grandchildren; sister, Dovie Wheeler of Quincey,WA; sister-in-law, Rocena White of Vancouver,WA; along with many other relatives and many dear and loving friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Joe White, Barney White, Ancel White and Odell White; son-in-law, Si Elledge; grandson, Walter Elledge and Steve Elledge and great grandson, Justin Elledge.
Casketbearers were Clay Holmes, Eric Allen, Doug Elledge, Michael Allen, Jeremy Ladd, and Donnie Ladd. Honorary bearers were Rick Burrell, Sean Atchley, and Will Horton
