Deceased Name: Floyd Shelby "Wally" Wallace
Submitted by: Jo Aguirre
Floyd Shelby "Wally" Wallace, affectionately known as "Wally" to many, left this planet October 3, 2012, headed north on his next big fishing trip and campout where he'll be joining his grandparents, his special uncle and aunt Ira and Iva Waldrum, his mother and father-in laws Elmer and Ola Green, his parents, Leonard Shelby and Ida Wallace and his sister Joyce along with their dog, Scottie to catch up on some fishing and get camp pitched for those trailing behind.
He is survived here by his wife, Marticia; his daughter, Sherri Williams and her husband Bill; his sons, Mike with his wife Susan and Mark with his wife Ann; his sister, Marie Risner with her husband Wendell; and brothers, Leonard Wayne with his wife Linda and Ronnie with his wife Jane; grandchildren Aaron Wallace and wife Katie, Tiffany Wallace, Jordana Wallace and Cody Wallace, Cory Williams and Ashley Aitken, Victoria and Ashley Wallace as well as great grandchildren, Kasan McMahan, Jagger Aitken, Shelby Kreuger and Colton Wallace his dog Sam and a veritable host of nieces and nephews: Terry, Jerry and Jack Risner, Regina Whisenhunt, Misty Jones and Matthew Wallace along with a pack of great nieces and nephews who all thought he was a rock star.
He was a grandson, a son, a big brother, a husband, a dad, an uncle, a friend, a papaw, a great grandfather and a man. There were none better than him on this earth, and those who knew him well know The Maker has a special place picked out for him to make camp.
Born in Durant, Oklahoma August 12, 1933, he married Marticia Green, his beloved Marty, on February 21, 1955 after serving his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict.
He returned home to be employed in some manner or other dealing with boats and the lake for the rest of his life. Starting there in 1966, he remained gainfully employed by Lacy and Dorothy Harber, who he looked on as family, at Eisenhower Marina. Retirement isn's necessary when you're doing what you love.
He cared deeply about friends and family and looked after them as best he could, always ready to give never asking for anything but a good fishing spot, a nice breeze off the lake and maybe a cold Dr. Pepper. He was a skilled fisherman and hunter with a passion for the outdoors and life in general. He had a heart bigger than Texas, a smile always on his face, a joke to be played always running through his mind.
In the end we are judged by the marks we have made on those around us, on the lives we have made better, the people we have touched and on the love we have created. In those subjects he has graduated with the highest honors, and we, who are lingering behind for a bit, will miss him greatly, but right now it's time for him to fish. We'll have to catch him later. He'll have the place ready and the fish fried when we get there.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 5, 2012 at Brown's Funeral Service Chapel. Bro. Kerry Groce will officiate.
Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery with Aaron Wallace, Cody Wallace, Cory Williams, Chance Risner, James Harber and Marty Ulmer serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Lacey Harber, Roger Wingo, Lonnie Williams and Bill Sampson.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 4, 2012.
