Jerry Neil Thomason passed away on August 31, 2017 at the age of 77. He was born in Oklahoma City on September 5, 1939 to Nolan and Wacel Thomason.
He graduated from Classen High School in Oklahoma City and received his undergraduate degree from Central State University. Later, he earned his Master’s Degree from Michigan State University. Jerry served as an FBI special agent for 30 years. He received numerous letters of commendation from the Director of the FBI for successful arrests and prosecutions.
He was a member of The First Presbyterian Church in Durant, where he served as a Deacon and high school Sunday school teacher. Jerry was an avid Oklahoma State Cowboys fan, and he loved attending the football and basketball games and cheering for the Cowboys. He enjoyed golfing with his friends at the Durant Country Club and meeting for morning coffee with his buddies at the Durant Drug Store. Jerry also relished his Friday afternoon card games with his friends.
Jerry is survived by his two daughters Ashley Stipe, and husband Curtis, of Prosper, Texas and Jennifer Franklin, and husband Tal, of Dallas, Texas. Jerry was very proud of his five grandchildren: Blake Massey, Brooke Massey, Ava Franklin, Charlotte Franklin, and Virginia Claire Franklin. He is also survived by his two brothers, Larry Thomason, and wife Connie, of Tucson, Arizona, and Craig Thomason of Durant, Oklahoma, and two nephews, Ben and wife Denny, and DJ and one niece, Maria. Along with his many special friends, he had wonderful caregivers over the last eight years. These women were far more than caregivers; they were family to Jerry.
Jerry was a beloved father, grandfather, and devoted friend. He will be greatly missed by many but will one day be reunited with his loved ones in Heaven.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday September 5th at The First Presbyterian Church in Durant.
Graveside services will follow at Highland Cemetery with Tom Criswell, Gary Dominic, Jim Elliott, Tal Franklin, Jim Huskey, Tom Lackey, Junior Manners, Blake Massey, Larry Nabors, and Curtis Stipe serving as pallbearers.
Memorials can be made to Wishing Well Texoma (wishingwelltexoma.org), an organization that Jerry supported.
