Mary Kaye Shepard, a longtime resident of Durant, Oklahoma, and beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother and Teacher, passed into the arms of her Savior on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at the age of 78 years 3 months and 27 days. She was born on June 21, 1939 to Lynn and Mildred (Haynie) Marsh in Durant, Oklahoma.

Kaye dedicated her life to educating the children of her community as a teacher at Robert E. Lee Elementary and Durant High School. She received her Masters degree at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Kaye was a member of the Presbyterian church in Durant. She loved sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys, and the OKC Thunder. Her grandsons were the light of her life, she was extremely proud of the fact the they both chose to serve their country, Sgt. Spencer Shepard in the United States Marines, and Staff Sgt. Tyler Shepard in the United States Air Force. 

Mrs. Shepard is survived by her son, Steve Shepard and wife Tonya of Mansfield, Texas; beloved grandsons, Staff Sargent Tyler Shepard and wife Andrea of Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico, and Sgt. Spencer Shepard, United States Marines of Twenty-Nine Palms, California; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Makenna, and Beckett. 

Mrs. Shepard was preceded in death by her parents, Lynn and Mildred Marsh; and brother, Jim Marsh. 

A Chapel Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday October 23rd at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Chapel in Durant Oklahoma with Dr. Jim Harmon officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery in Durant. Kaye's family will serve as her Pallbearers.
