Arlene Kissel Rustin, a resident of Durant, Oklahoma and faithful servant of her Lord and Savior passed from this earthly life at her home on Friday, February 21, 2014 at the age of 99 years.

She was born to John Leonard and Myrtle Alice Earl Kissel in Springdale, Arkansas on December 14, 1914.

She married H. C. Rustin in Newkirk, Oklahoma on April 24, 1938.

Arlene was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene of Durant, Oklahoma.

She graduated from Central College in McPherson, Kansas, and attended the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Oklahoma, to obtain a teaching degree. Her first teaching assignment was in a one room school near Newkirk, Oklahoma. H.C. and Arlene came to Durant, Oklahoma in 1943 for a thirty-day excavation project that developed into a seventy-year, second and third-generation family business in southeastern Oklahoma. They were a team in faith, family, and business. Her personal passions were gardening, art, and entertaining family and friends, new and old.

Mrs. Rustin is survived by her sons, Philip Rustin and wife Charla of Durant, Oklahoma and Bart Rustin and wife Phyllis of Durant, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Stuart Rustin and wife Annette of Durant, Oklahoma, Lisa Rustin Alex of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Brent Rustin and wife Adrienne of Ada, Oklahoma and Brock Rustin of Claremont, California; great-grandchildren, Brittany Solis of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Brianna Baughman and husband Allen of Durant, Oklahoma, Braden Solis of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Olivia Rustin of Durant, Oklahoma, Grant Rustin of Durant, Oklahoma, Landon Rustin of Durant, Oklahoma and Katia Rustin of Ada, Oklahoma.

Mrs. Rustin was preceded in death by her parents, John and Myrtle Kissel; husband, H.C. Rustin; brothers, Ralph Dale Kissel, Earl Kissel and Clarence Kissel; sisters, Viola Ligon, Violet Binkley and Jeri Casto Foster.

Family hour will be from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. Sunday, February 23, 2014 at the Holmes ~ Coffey ~ Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A Celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 24, 2014 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Durant with Rev. John Kinsey officiating.

Interment will follow at the Highland Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Stuart Rustin, Brent Rustin, Brock Rustin, Braden Solis, Grant Rustin, Chuck Whisman, Cecil Smith and Allen Boughman.
