A service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Fairview Baptist Church for Marie (Norris) Reese, 80, Denison, Texas, who died Friday, Sept. 3, 2004, at House of Ruth Assisted Living Center in Denison. The Rev. Carroll Hooper will officiate. The daughter of Preston Gilbert and Lucy Grey (Ballard), she was born Wednesday, Sept. 19, 1923, in Armstrong.
She was a long time resident of Durant before moving to House of Ruth in Denison. Mrs. Reese was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, enjoyed woodworking, sewing and planting flowers. She worked with her husband for Morrow Egg Ranch for 19 years and then for John Owens D.D.S. as a dental assistant.
She married Dewey Reese Nov. 3, 1943, in Durant.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband on Aug. 23, 1993, sister Robbie Gennell Burkhart, son-in-law Dennis Huggins, and brother Lewis Elton Norris.
Survivors include daughters Karolyn Davis and husband Ross, and Donna Lawson and husband Otis, all of Durant; grandsons Chad Huggins, Tucson, Ariz., and Jonathan Huggins and wife Laura, Beaufort, S.C., great-granddaughters Gabrielle Huggins and Zoey Huggins, both of Beaufort.
Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Durant with Ivan Kelly, Bill Dufur, Johnny Corbin, Dennis Bragg, Gary Hammel and Larry Qualls serving as pallbearers.
