Ruby Oleta Middleton, 95 of Bedford, Texas passed away Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the Parkwood Nursing Center in Bedford.
She was born on October 30, 1918 in Allison, Oklahoma to the late Charlie Cleveland Davis and Francis Cleveland McCalib Davis.
Oleta was raised in the Utica, Durant, and Achille, Oklahoma area. She graduated from Utica High School and later attended Southeastern Oklahoma University where she earned her B.S. degree in education. Later she attended Central State University for advanced studies of special education. Oleta began her teaching career at Fort Towson, OK. After 30 years of teaching she retired from the Lawton, OK school system.
Oleta married Gerald S. Middleton on May 16, 1945 in Hugo, Oklahoma. She and Gerald moved to Kingston, OK area in the early 1980's. Gerald preceded her in death May 3, 2003.
Oleta moved to Bedford,TX in 2005.She was a member of the OEA Teachers Association and the Kingston Church of Christ. Oleta enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, but her greatest love was teaching.
She is survived by: Children: Geraldine M. Glahn of Dallas, Texas; Gerald W. Middleton and wife Carole of Bedford, Texas. Sister in-law: Mae Davis of Kingston, Oklahoma. Grandchildren: Angela M. Glahn of Dallas, Texas; Charles L. Middleton and wife Barbara of Bedford, Texas; Christopher W. Middleton of Ft. Worth, Texas; Steven L. Middleton of Ft. Worth, Texas. Six Great Grandchildren. Nieces: Gail Ann Terrell, Gail Parker, Linda Parker and Lisa Davis. Nephew: Bill Davis.
Oleta was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers; Johnnie and Orville Davis and 1 sister; Loraine Davis.
Visitation will be Wednesday 10:00 am to 9:00 pm at Watts Funeral Home , Kingston, OK with a family hour from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Services will be Thursday, March 6, 2014, at 1:00 pm at the Watts Funeral Home , Kingston,Oklahoma.
Casket Bearers: Larrie Ford, Mike King, Andy Magid, Fred Connally, Joe Glahan, and Dan Orr. Honorary Bearer: Charles Middleton. Chris Webb will officiate the services. Music arranged by Church of Christ Singers.
Interment will be at the Highlands Cemetery, Durant, Oklahoma.
Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home , Madill, Oklahoma.
