Martha Marie Hayes, a beloved family member, and resident of Durant, Oklahoma left this life at her home on Tuesday July 25, 2017 at the age of 93 years 3 months and 18 days. She was born on April 7, 1924 in Durant, Oklahoma to John James and Lillie Ann (Crum) Adamson. Martha was married to Acie Van Hayes who preceded her in death.

Martha was born at home on Florida Street in Durant. She started her education at East Ward Elementary. She was so proud of her family and spent many hours playing dominoes, and checkers with them. Thanksgiving and Christmas were favorite times of the year when her grandchildren gathered around her and listened to stories of her childhood. 

She was a member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), and went on many trips across the USA with the Roadrunners Bryan Baptist Association. She could be seen riding the community shuttle bus to the senior center 5 days a week.

She loved her Lord, and enjoyed singing gospel songs at church, at nursing homes or anytime someone wanted to sing. Her family honors her, as a Christian Woman and Loving Mother.

Mrs. Hayes is survived by her beloved children, daughters, Linda Caraway and husband John of Durant, Oklahoma, and Mary Kathryn Adcock of Dallas, Texas; sons, Hershel Levine and wife Mila of Hyde Park, Massachusetts, Donald Beshirs and wife Beverly of Roberta, Oklahoma, Joe Beshirs and wife Ruth of Colbert, Oklahoma, and Larry Beshirs and wife Marsha of Duncan, Oklahoma; step-daughters, Mina Budzelowski of Texarkana, Texas, and Clarice McCoy of Dallas, Texas; 14 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren.

Mrs. Hayes was preceded in death by her parents, John James and Lillie Ann Adamson; husband, Acie Van Hayes; brothers, Jimmy Adamson, Johnny Adamson, Roscoe Brown, and Otho Lee Brown; and sister, Mary Adamson Robb.

Family Hour will be from 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Thursday July 27th at the Holmes~ Coffey~ Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A Chapel Service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday July 28th at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Chapel with Bro. Joe Beshirs officiating.

Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers will be Chad Gillham, Jason Beshirs, John Caraway, Michael Beshirs, Victor Caraway, and Wyatt Park.
