On July 20, 1974 Jay was able to marry the love of his life Starla Reeves. They had two sons Jeffrey and Jesse and a daughter Kayla which they raised in Westville as well. After Jay retired from Baldor he enjoyed being outside doing yard work and watching his grandkids and 4 great grandkids play when they came along.

If he couldn't be outside you'd find him inside watching basketball, football, NASCAR, drag racing, and occasionally whatever his grand babies talked him into watching.
