Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald Rucker, Melvin Rucker and Charles Rucker; and three sisters, Aleain Johnson, Opal Dewberry, and Darland Frazier.

Vernon is survived by his wife, Dee, of Alva; two daughters, Lamanda Rucker, of Detroit, Mich., and LaDonna Fuller of Alva; one son, Derrick Dirham of Oklahoma City; four brothers, Norval Rucker of Glendale, Ariz., Alfred Rucker of Dallas, Texas, and James Rucker of Guthrie, and Ernest Rucker; one sister, Cadelia Rucker of Oklahoma City; five grandchildren, Josh Fuller, Jeremy Fuller, Allavonta Dirham, Cameasha Rucker, and Atrion Rucker; several nieces and nephews; one godchild, Samantha Hawley, of Alva; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Oct. 1 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Shane Tharp officiating. Interment will be in the Capron Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to help with the funeral expenses.

The funeral for Vernon Edwin Rucker, 61, of Alva, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Shane Tharp will officiate. Burial will be in Capron Cemetery. Arrangements are by Marshall Funeral Home, Alva.

He was born Dec. 3, 1943, in Guthrie to Oscar and Bessie Eileen Thomas Rucker and died Tuesday, Sept. 27, at his home.

He attended Guthrie schools.

He married Mary Deneice "Dee" Dirham Jan. 1, 1974, at Guthrie. He was a mechanic for Rhodes Auto Salvage and also worked for George Foote and the Bouziden's. He was a member of Alva Moose Lodge.

Surviving are his wife, Dee, of Alva; two daughters, Lamanda Rucker of Detroit, and LaDonna Fuller of Alva; one son, Derrick Dirham of Oklahoma City; four brothers, Norval Rucker of Glendale, Ariz., Alfred Rucker of Dallas, James Rucker of Guthrie, and Ernest Rucker of Alva; one sister, Cadelia Rucker of Oklahoma City; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
