Rheta Chance, 69 year old Woodward resident died Wednesday, March 7, 2018 in the Vici Nursing Home. Graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, March 16, 2018 at Vonton Cemetery with Reverend Scott Ware officiating. Services are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.
Rheta Joyce Chance was born on May, 23, 1948 in Woodward, Oklahoma; she was the daughter of James Ollie and Bertha Mae (Pittaway) Wake. Rheta attended Woodward schools and graduated from Woodward High School. She was united in marriage to Joseph F. Chance, Sr. on November 23, 1965 at the Faith United Methodist Church in Woodward. They made their home in Woodward, where they have remained since that time. Rheta worked for 30 years as a manger for E-Z Pickens, and Jiffy Trip. She then worked as a supervisor for the OARC Thrift Store.
Rheta enjoyed fishing, spending time with family and attending family reunions. She also enjoyed taking trips to the casino from time to time.
She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church.
Rheta is survived by her husband Joe, Sr. of the home; two sons, Joe Chance, Jr. and wife Marty of Woodward; Sean Chance and wife Lanette of Runge, Texas; Mandi Beezley and husband Moe of Eufaula; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; mother, Bertha Wake; sister, Cathy Poage and husband Rick of Woodward; many nieces, nephews, and several special friends and staff of the OARC whom she considers family.
She was preceded in death by her father, J. O. Wake; brother, Eddie Wake; mother and father-in-law, Alma and Everett Chance.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff of the Vici Nursing Home for all the Love and Care they have given Rheta.
Memorial contributions may be made to the OARC with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
