Howard Herbert Debock

December 18, 1923 ~ January 1, 2017

A celebration of life for Howard Herbert DeBock, age 93, of Quinlan, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Quinlan United Methodist Church with Pastor Scott Ware officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery. Services are under the guidance of Billings Funeral Home.

Howard was born on December 18, 1923 in Quinlan, Oklahoma to Earl H. and Mary E. (Roedell) DeBock, and passed away January 1, 2017. He graduated from high school at Quinlan and attended Enid Business College. In 1944, he married Betty Jo Johns. After a tour in the Army, he owned and operated a dozer service for many years. He later enjoyed farming and ranching until his retirement.

Howard served on several boards, including the Woodward County Soil Conservation Service, Northwestern Electric Cooperative and Western Farmers of Anadarko. As a member of the Quinlan United Methodist Church, he was a part of the Quinlan United Methodist Church Board and numerous other committees for many years.

Howard always enjoyed building things in his woodworking shop, he lovingly made each grandchild a cedar chest and each great grandchild a toy box. Hunting, fishing and watching old westerns were among his favorite hobbies.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Jo; son Terry of Hennessey; daughters, Ann Goll and husband Dean of Alva; Gayla Walton and husband Evert of Enid; sister Evalyn Johnson and husband Wayne of Quinlan; grandchildren Devin and Dawn DeBock, Tyla and Chad Mantz, Kendra and Todd Hamilton, Deana and Carson Silk, Melissa and Justin McGann, and Sabrina and Dustin Dierksen; 13 great grandchildren; as well as other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Kenneth E. DeBock and wife Dorothy; one daughter-in-law, Terry"s wife, Kathy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Quinlan United Methodist Church Improvement Fund for maintenance of the grounds.
