Janet Blevins, 92 year old long time Mooreland resident, died Wednesday, September 9, 2020 in Mooreland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 12, 2020 at the St. Peter Catholic Church in Woodward with Reverend Joe Arledge presiding. A Prayer Vigil and Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday, September 11, 2020 at the St. Peter Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Mooreland. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.
Janet Louise (Knittel) Blevins was born on December 12, 1927 in Mooreland, Oklahoma to Ramey J. and Flossie Anna (Hamilton) Knittel. She grew up in Mooreland and attended and graduated from Mooreland High School in 1945. Janet was united in marriage to Wyman Dean Blevins on February 1, 1947 in Mooreland, Oklahoma. They made their first home in Mooreland. They were blessed with two sons, Greg and Rex. Janet and Wyman owned a service station and garage in Mooreland and also had a Tag Agency in the station. In 1956, they sold the station and moved to Liberal, Kansas where Wyman worked as an automobile salesman and Janet stayed home with the boys. After 4 ½ years the family moved back to Mooreland and she has lived here since that time.
She was a faithful member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mooreland. Janet was a member of the Altar Society and had served as a Eucharist minister. Her church was very important to her. She enjoyed shopping and getting a bargain, but most of all she loved being with her family.
She is survived by her two sons, Greg Blevins and wife Jessie of Yukon, Rex Blevins and wife Marilyn of Jenks; grandsons: Jason Blevins and wife Cherie of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Mark Blevins of Tulsa, Anthony Blevins-Wynd and wife Karie of Oklahoma City, Stephen Blevins and wife Gina of Glenpool, Christopher Blevins and wife Melissa of Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, granddaughters, Michelle Blevins-Wynd of Moore, Sarah Green and husband David of Tulsa, Danielle Mathes and husband James of Oklahoma City; great-grandchildren: Jason McClanahan, Christian Wynd, Sheldon Wynd, Ashton Sechrist, Brantley Sechrist, Spencer Sechrist, Laremy Blevins Marker, Isaac Fleck, Adryan Fleck, C.J. Blevins, Bradley Peterson, Hadley Peterson, Boston Blevins, Brooklyn Blevins, Madelyn Wynd, Grace Green, Mason Blevins, Brayden Blevins; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wyman on January 4, 2003, one sister Joan Caster, and great-grandson, Baley Sechrist.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
