Dean Edwards, 77 year old Woodward County resident, died Wednesday, October 1, 2014 in the Integris Bass Baptist Hospital in Enid. Graveside funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 4, 2014 at the Rock Church Cemetery, north of Woodward with Gordon Lawson officiating. Burial will follow.

Verlin Dean Edwards was born on February 6, 1937 in Harper County, Oklahoma to Vernie Martin and Opal Faye (Carey) Edwards. Dean was raised in Woodward County and attended Ft. Supply Schools. On October 20, 1955, Dean was united in marriage to Betty Jo Yauk. They made their home in Harper and Woodward County. They were blessed with three children, Rocky Dean, Ricky Jo, and Rhonda Kay. Dean worked for the Woodward Coop and he farmed and ranched all throughout his life.

Dean was a member of the Church of Christ. He enjoyed roping, sports and he loved being with his family.

He is survived by two sons, Rocky Dean Edwards of Woodward, Ricky Jo Edwards and wife Terri of Woodward, one daughter Rhonda Kay Branson and husband Vick of Ft. Supply; six grandchildren, Curtis Edwards, Kendra Hutchens and husband Jon, Kevin Edwards, Michelle Gribble and husband Mike, Mindy Albino and husband Steven, Micah Branson; seven great-grandchildren, Avery, Maci, Gage, Jaxon, Devon, Branson, and Aaron; one sister, Charlene Day of Woodward; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Don and Janice Yauk of Woodward, Pete and Rhonda Yauk of Paxton, Nebraska; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 53 years Betty Jo Edwards on September 14, 2009, one brother Junior Edwards and one sister Charlotte Freeman. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Cancer Research with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
