Marcella Jean Barnes of Woodward Oklahoma, passed from this life on June 23, 2020 in Woodward Oklahoma at the age of 88. Marcella was born to Warren and Lucille McCormick on March 31, 1932. She grew up in the Woodward and Mooreland area. On December 8, 1949 Marcella married Leslie D. Pettey, from this marriage they had 5 children 1 daughter, Karen Pettey Miller and 4 sons, Gary Pettey, Leslie Pettey, Donald Pettey and Richard Pettey.
She later married Francis Carol Barnes AKA RED on September 22, 1966.
Marcella made her living working as a nurses aide at the Colonial Manor here in Woodward, she also worked at the OARC as a house parent, she was a live in caretaker for many years. She enjoyed going to church, singing old gospel hymns, watching game shows on TV and she always loved making people laugh by telling her jokes. Marcella would help anyone with anything, she was a sweet lady. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandkids and great grandkids.
Marcella is preceded in death by her father Warren McCormick, her mother Lucille McCormick, her seven brothers, Bud McCormick, Junior McCormick, Charles McCormick, Hubert McCormick, Lowell R. McCormick, Marshall Dean McCormick, Kenneth McCormick, and her 4 sisters, Wilma Clow, Alice Case, Thelma Syrie, Eula Davis, and her grand daughter Misty Dawn Tuck, her grandson Dustin Joe Tuck, and her great great grandson Phoenix Nemo Crowe. Left to carry her on are her daughter Karen Sue Miller (Pettey), and her four sons, Gary Dwayne Pettey, Richard Allen Pettey, Donald Eugene Pettey, Leslie Robert Pettey, her grandkids Melissa Smith, Matt Pettey, Stacy Pettey, Wendy West her husband Rodger West, Lisa Miller and her husband Shalane Miller and Shawn Pettey. Her great grandkids, Devynn Denson, Trevor Williams, Lane Smith, Moesha West, Tyler West, Taylor West, Tanner West, Dawson Pettey, Kadesha Miller, Kadish Miller, Kadelynn Miller, Kaden Miller, Kadence Miller, Sierra Tuck, Adrianna Tuck, Jayden Tuck, and Dusti Tuck. Her great great grandkids, Greyson, Bently, Harley, Drex Arylexa, Mila, Koal, Zaelynn, and baby Frankie and lots of other friends and family.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday on July 2, 2020 at the Prairie View Cemetery, south of Woodward.
The family would also like to invite everyone to the LaQuinta Inn in Woodward at 2:00pm for a celebration of life.
