Funeral: 10:00 AM Monday, March 13th, 2017 - United Methodist Church of Sharon
Interment: Monday, March 13th, 2017 - North Persimmon Cemetery

Leta Farnsworth, 89 year old Sharon resident, died Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 13, 2017 at the United Methodist Church of Sharon with Reverend Debbie Kerr and Reverend Ray Blakley officiating. Burial will follow in the North Persimmon Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.

Leta Ellen (Manning) Farnsworth was born January 9, 1928 at the family home near Ringwood, Oklahoma to Amos Kirk and Juanita Lorene (Latimer) Manning. Leta grew up in the Ringwood area and attended school there.

She was united in marriage to Lyle D. “L.D.” Farnsworth on October 26, 1947 at her parents’ home near Ringwood, Oklahoma. They were blessed with four children: Mark, Sheryl, Cathy, and Marita. They made their first home on the farm near Ringwood. They moved to Edmond, Kansas before moving to Sharon in 1955. In 1965 the family moved to Vici where Leta was the school secretary for the Vici schools. Later Leta and L.D. became partners in an office supply store in Woodward. They both continued working until they retired in 1990. They have lived in their current home in Sharon since that time.

She was a member of the Sharon United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed music, ceramics, art, sewing, cooking, and collecting. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 70 years, L.D. Farnsworth of the home; one son, Mark Farnsworth and wife Dwana of Sharon; two daughters, Sheryl Melton and husband LaVern of Beaver, Cathy Jones and husband Bob of Cleo Springs; six grandchildren: Nathan Melton and wife Dana, Natalie Tracy and husband Aaron, Chance Jones and wife Angela, Trey Jones, Brandy Furr and husband Kenny, Brenna Vassar and husband Jeremy; 13 great-grandchildren, McKenna, Teagan, Ross, Stella, Wyatt, Cooper, Brantley, Triston, Stetson, Baylor, Raydan, Breanna, and Cody; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved daughter Marita.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sharon United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
