Alta Rose (Keeler) Breshears was born September 1, 1938 in Denver, Colorado to Elmer Keeler and Dorothy (Winn) Keeler. She grew up in the Rocky Mountains near Saguache, Colorado. As a child she loved climbing on the mountain, hunting for arrow heads, and spending time and eating cookies with Grandma Winn. She attended Saguache County High School. After high school she became a Practical Nurse at Denver General Hospital.

Alta married William (Bill) Breshears on June 10, 1957 in Denver. She and Bill had four children, Hank, Lee, Cindy and Bruce. In 1962 the family moved from Denver to Sharon, Oklahoma, where Alta took on the full-time job of raising their children.

Alta was a member of the Sharon United Methodist Church where she served as a youth and adult Sunday School teacher, and a Vacation Bible School teacher for many years. She believed God’s mission for her was to pass out sunshine, and she delighted in playing the role of “church mouse”. She was active in Mothers’ Club and served as a Class Mother. She was a Cub Scouts Den mother. She worked as a substitute teacher, a correspondent for the Woodward News, and worked elections. She and Bill had a photography business doing school and sport pictures, and weddings. After their children were grown, Alta owned The Cobweb antique store in Woodward for many years.

Her hobbies included watching her children and grandchildren play sports, cooking for the family at holidays, making beef jerky and cinnamon rolls, walking, going to garage sales, reading and collecting old books, collecting crosses, American history and the Presidents, painting, genealogy, camping, watching football and growing roses.

She is survived by son Hank and wife Robyn of Rogers, AR; son Lee and wife Tonya of Woodward, OK; daughter Cindy and husband Jim of Morrison, OK; and son Bruce and wife Cindy of Cashion, OK; 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill, and her granddaughter Amber.
