Billy Joe (Bill) Young

Billy Joe (Bill) Young was born on January 29, 1942 in Hooker, Oklahoma to Adam and Minnie (Garrett) Young. Bill grew up in the Hooker area and attended Hooker High School. During high school he worked as a gas station attendant and later worked as farm hand. After school Bill joined the United States Navy where he was on a submarine and was the rear navigator. He was honorably discharged from the United States Navy. Bill then pursued a job in the oil field, holding several positions, such as a derrick hand and a driller.
He was united in marriage to Ellen Pierce in 1962. They were blessed with Bruce and Billy Jack. Bill was united in marriage to Lois Villetta McHaney on January 7, 1978 in Branson, Missouri. They made their home in Mooreland, Oklahoma. After retiring from the oilfield Bill pursued a career with his wife. The couple ran numerous bars in Woodward. Bill retired in May of 2020 after successfully running the Corner Lounge for 40 years.
Bill Enjoyed fishing and playing pool. He especially loved spending time with his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.
Bill is survived by his wife Lois of the home; children, Bruce Young and wife Tabby and their three children; K.R. Buss and wife Rhonda their three children, 11 great-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; Gary Baker and wife Teresa and their six children and five great-grandchildren; Kelle Robinson and husband Robert and their two children and two great-grandchildren; Kathy Peil and her four children and 11 great-grandchildren; Tamme Buss her five children and 17 great-grandchildren; Vickie Henry and husband Billy and their two children, four great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild; Rhonda Hobbs and husband Jerry and their nine children and 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Woodridge and Joann (Pud) Young; and other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Minnie Young; brother, Jack Young; two sisters; a son, Billy Jack Young; and three grandchildren, Ronnie John Kraus and Shannan Kraus and Amanda Rogers; son-in-law, Mickey (Mouse) Peil.
