Donald D. Maddux, 75 year old Mooreland resident, died Wednesday, April 1, 2020 in Claremore. Private family Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 6, 2020 in the Mooreland Cemetery with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Due to the current order to restrict public gatherings to 10 people, the family ask that all rules and regulations be abided by.
Donald Denean Maddux was born February 21, 1945 in Mooreland, Oklahoma, the son of Harold Eugene and Nina Belle (Fussell) Maddux. He was reared mostly in Mooreland but the family moved all over Oklahoma and Texas due to his father working in the oilfield. He graduated from Mooreland High School and then attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva. He served in the United States Army Reserves for 26 years and was honorably discharged on February 23, 1990 achieving the rank of Command Sergeant Major.
While in the Army Reserve he was an expert in rifle and pistol and a Drill Sergeant.
He was united in marriage to Sherry Tingle on May 23, 1987 in Ada, Oklahoma. They made their home in Mooreland. Donald worked as a parts manager for Baker Chevrolet, and also built houses in and around Woodward before becoming a counselor for the Oklahoma Education Development Association.
Donald enjoyed movie collecting, working on anything, building and fixing cars, snow skiing, and flying planes. He loved spending time with his family especially his kids and grandkids.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, April Coberly and great-granddaughter Victoria Coberly.
He is survived by his loving wife Sherry Maddux of the home in Mooreland; sons: Duane Maddux and wife Vicki, Michael Maddux and wife Belenda; one daughter Carolyn Romano and husband Kirt; eight grandchildren: Michael Belcher, Levi Maddux, Shawna Standiford, Andrew Nielsen, Preston Jones, IV, Justin Romano, Tabitha Romano, and Brianna Maddux; nine great grandchildren: Remington, Bella, Vada, Katelyn, Aaron, Lilly, Amalie, Miah, Jethro, and two more on the way that are due in May and October; one brother Larry Maddux and wife Margaret and their daughters Sarah and Kate; Deanna Nielsen, mother of sons and daughter; other relatives and many friends.
