Bernice Lillian Warford Lewis

March 20, 1957 ~ February 26, 2024

Bernice Lewis, 96 year old Mooreland resident, passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2021 in Mooreland surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 7, 2021 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel, in Woodward with Reverend Donnetta Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in the Mooreland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home in Woodward on Sunday, June 6, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Bernice Lillian (Warford) Lewis was born on May 27, 1925 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to David Porter and Lillian Christina (Bilhorn) Warford. Bernice grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1945. She was united in marriage to Paris Gilbert (P.G.) Lewis on April 6, 1952 at the First Christian Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They were blessed with five children: Geary Lee, Karen Sue, Gail Ann, Paul Gilbert, and Larry Clark. They made their home north of Woodward before moving to Welch, Oklahoma. They later moved to Mooreland and she has lived there since that time.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mooreland. Bernice worked at the Mooreland Golden Age Nursing Home for 21 years before her retirement. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed gardening and canning. Bernice always enjoyed cooking at Falls Creek for the kids for several years. She was an active woman with travels to Colorado, Las Vegas (not to gamble), Missouri, Arkansas, attending several womens retreats with her daughter in law Donna. She went skiing (not to ski) but to cook for Geary and family and several other families. There were so many good times.

She is survived by her five children: Geary Lewis and wife Donna of Mooreland, Karen King and husband Dale of Enid, Gail Gottman and husband Bill of Williamsburg, Kansas, Paul Lewis and wife Misty of Norman, Larry Lewis and wife Pam of Blanchard; 17 grandchildren: Terry Lewis and wife Tessa, Tania Boyd and husband Mark, Daniel King, David King, Rebekah King, Gideon King and wife Hannah, Noah King and wife Kalaila, Nathan Lewis and wife Macie, Heather Lewis, John Gottman and wife Shauna, Sarah Roecker and husband Chad, Zachariah Lewis and wife Shayla, Zane Lewis, Freddie Bentencort, Meisha Holt, Tabatha Heath, Tandra Cabbo; 28 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; other relatives and friends.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, P.G., two grandchildren, Trent Lewis, Isaac King, and one great-grandchild, Connor Boyd.

Memorial contributions may be made to Humanity Hospice with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
