Stella Kelso, 84 year old Mooreland, Oklahoma resident died Saturday, January 18, 2020 in Woodward. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, January 24, 2020 in the Mooreland Cemetery with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Stella Marie (Bishop) Kelso was born on July 29, 1935 in Woodward, Oklahoma; she was the daughter of Bill and Lula (Nogle) Bishop. Stella was reared in Woodward, attended Woodward schools and graduated from Woodward High School. She was united in marriage to Lawrence Wesley Kelso on February 6, 1954 in Woodward, Oklahoma. They made their home in Mooreland. In 1959 they moved to Quinlan where Stella and Lawrence farmed and ranched. They were blessed with two children Wesley and Yvonne.
Stella later attended the High Plains Vo-Tech, where she became a Certified Dietary Manager. She worked at the Mooreland Hospital, Fruit of the Loom Factory, Mooreland Nursing Home in the Dietary Department. She also ran a home business selling Avon and Home Interiors. Most of all she was a farmers wife, and mother. She milked cows, fed cattle, raised chickens, gardened, and canned most of what she raised. Stella took great joy in building the ranch, and caring for her children.
Stella loved God and accepted Jesus as her Savior at a young age. She was active in the Mooreland Assembly of God for many years. She loved to attend her children and grandchildren's ball games, stock shows, rodeos, anything they were active in.
Stella is survived by her son, Wes Kelso of Mooreland; daughter, Yvonne Long and husband Jack of Mutual; grandchildren, Dusty Kelso and wife Sheila; Lacey Hailey and husband Nick; Travis Long and wife Carrie; Krista Harris and husband Richard; Whitney Long and fiance Darryl Tocco; Berk Long; and Abbie Long; ten great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Bill Sullivan; sister-in-law, Hazel Fern Ritter; nieces; nephews; other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son, Billy Wesley; sister, Bonnie Day; sister-in-law, Loretta Wyckoff; brothers-in-law, Bill Ritter; and Wilbur Day; nieces, Jana Johnson; nephew, Bill Day; special grandson, Hunter Spruell.
