Mildred Pauline Hopkins

June 21, 1913 ~ April 26, 1993

Woodward – The funeral for Mildred Pauline Hopkins, 80, retired Woodward business woman, will be at 10:30 AM Thursday in the Mooreland First United Methodist Church. Dr. Mark Davis will officiate. Burial will be in the Mooreland Cemetery under direction of Billings Funeral Home.

The casket will be open at the Billings Funeral Home in Woodward.

She was born June 21, 1913, at Cedardale to Frank H. and Alice Benefiel and died Monday, April 26, 1993, at the Golden Age Nursery Home in Mooreland. She attended school at Cedardale and graduated from Quinlan high school in 1932. On May 20, 1932, she and Joseph Harvey "Joe" Hopkins were married in Selman. They lived on her father's farm. In 1935, they moved to Quinlan where they started a grocery store would sold in 1942. In 1946, they moved to a farm southwest of Quinlan and in 1950 to Mooreland where they began the Conoco Service Station. They later leased the station. In 1960, they opened Hopkins Shoe Mart which she retired from in 1982. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Mooreland, Woodward and Mooreland Chamber of Commerce, Altrusa Club and a charter member Quinlan Rebekah Lodge, later Mooreland Rebekah Lodge, serving 61 years.

Surviving are two sons, Keith of Monroe, Louisiana, and Denny of Woodward; two sisters, Frances "Chic" Hayter of Woodward and Clarice Blamer of Brea, California; five grandchildren; and three great – grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one son.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the church or to charity of donor's choice.
