Dortha Ellen (Berry) Highfill
September 12, 1912 ~ September 28, 1999

Mooreland – The funeral for Dortha Ellen Highfill, 87, will be 10 AM Saturday at Mooreland First Baptist church with the Rev. Jim Westmoreland officiating. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery under direction of Billings Funeral Home of Woodward. She was born September 13, 1912, in Branson, Missouri, to William E "Bill" and Mary "Sissy" White Berry and died Tuesday, September 28, 1999, at Woodward Hospital and Health Center. She moved to Oklahoma with her parents at a young age and settled near Haskew. She attended school at Sunny Slope and Mooreland. She was a member of Haskew Baptist Church and Mooreland First Baptist Church. On September 17, 1929, she married Kenneth G. Highfill at Woodward. They farmed in the Haskew community before moving to Oak Grove. In 1947 they moved to a farm near Mooreland. She later moved to the town of Mooreland. He preceded her in death on July 31, 1985. She worked at Northwest Community Hospital for 17 years. She was a member of Mooreland Senior Citizens Club and wrote a column for the Mooreland Leader from January 1986 until her death. She is survived by one daughter, Betty Schneider of Woodward; two sons, Jim Highfill of Mooreland and Larry Highfield of Olympia, Washington; one brother, Paul Berry of Vancouver, Washington; six grandchildren; and five great – grandchildren. She was preceded in death by eight brothers, two sisters and two grandchildren. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Mooreland Senior Citizens Center or Mooreland First Baptist Church.
