Mrs. B. A. Highfill, 69, died at her home in Woodward, Monday night, after an illness of several months
Funeral services are set for today (Thursday) at 2:30 in the Baptist church in Mooreland, with Rev. C. E. Braswell, pastor, officiating. Burial in Mooreland cemetery with H. L. Gardner in charge.
Mary Etta Jefferies was born in Henry county, Indiana, on Dec. 22, 1868. She was united in marriage to B. A. Highfill on Dec. 12, 1886, at Buffalo, Mo., the marriage ceremony being performed by Mr. Highfill's uncle, Rev. J. J. Highfill of the Free Will Baptist church.
She was a member of the Baptist church, having joined at the at of 16 years, at Mt. Olive, Mo.
The Highfills resided in Missouri until 1901, when they came to Oklahoma and settled on a homestead in the old Pringey neighborhood. Here they resided until about a year ago, with the exception of a few short periods spent in Missouri.
Eleven children were born to them. Six sons and three daughters, with the husband and father survive. The children are Elmer, Charley, Bennett, and Mrs. Ethel Brankel, all of Curtis; Harry and Kenneth of Mooreland, Mrs Maude Clayton of Cedardale; Mrs. Minnie Leslie of Kingman, Kansas, and Leslie of Harrah, Wash.

The death of B. A. Highfill, long time area resident, occurred in Woodward hospital on Nov. 29. Funeral services were held Dec. 1 at the First Baptist church in Mooreland with Rev. Earl Bengs, officiating. Burial was in Mooreland cemetery under the direction of Knittel Funeral Home.
Bennett A. Highfill, youngest son of Bennett and Margaret Highfill, was born June 30, 1869, near Springfield, Missouri, and departed this life November 29, 1959, at Woodward, Oklahoma, at the age of 90 years, 4 months, 29 days.
On December 12, 1886, he was united in marriage to Mary Etta Jeffries at Buffalo, Missouri. To this union was born 11 children: 8 boys and 3 girls. His wife preceded him in death Oct 24. 1938. He was also preceeded in death by four sone, Hezikiah, Alvin, Elmer and Leslie.
In 1997, he and his wife were father moved by ox team and covered wagon from Springfield, Mo. to Nashville, Kansas. He made his home there until moving to Oklahoma, near Mooreland, where he was engaged in farming for many years. He was a member of the Haskew Baptist church.
In 1941, he was united in marriage to Mary L Best of Woodward, Okla., where he spent the remainder of his days.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Mary, of the home, four sons; Charley, Harry, Bennett and Kenneth, all of Mooreland; three daughters: Mrs. Minnie Leslie of Wichita, Kans; Mrs. Maude Clayton, Quinlan; and Mrs. Ethel Watts, Woodward.
In addition to these are 24 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends
