Maxine Hartley, 72 year old Mooreland resident, died Saturday, October 7, 2000 in the St. Mary's Mercy Hospital in Enid. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Mooreland Cemetery with the Reverend Mike Smith officiating. Burial will follow with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Ava Maxine (Fields) Hartley was born on May 27, 1928 in Curtis, Oklahoma to Roy Thomas and Lenola Fern (Scollin) Fields. She was reared in Curtis and attended the Curtis School. Maxine was married to Chester Loyd Hartley on March 17, 1946 in Mooreland.
They bought the family farm southeast of Mooreland and moved there in 1946. They framed and ranched until Chester's retirement in 1990. Maxine drove a school bus for a number of years for the Mooreland schools. Chester preceded her in death on October 20, 1991. Maxine sold the farm and moved to Mooreland in 1991. She has resided in Mooreland since that time.
Maxine was a member of the First Christian Church of Mooreland. Maxine taught Bible School for a number of years.
She is survived by two sons, Loyd Hartley of Canon City, Colorado; Larry Hartley of Mooreland; one daughter, Peggy Hartley, Mooreland; two grandchildren; Shari Lynn Ward and husband Matt; Mark Hartley, Mooreland; one sister, Harriet Miner, Helena; four brothers, Billy Fields and wife Sylvella, Mooreland; Frances Fields, Woodward; Jim Fields and Tom Fields of Mooreland.
Maxine was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
