The funeral for Lena Marie Ford, age 90 will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 29, 2009 at the First Christian Church of Mooreland with the Reverend Tom Marcum and the Reverend Jim Veal officiating. Burial will be in the Mooreland Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Billings Funeral Home in Mooreland on Friday, August 28, 2009 from 8:00 am to 8:00 p.m.

Lena Marie (Harris) Ford was born in Cedardale, Oklahoma to Oliver and Alta (Jones) Harris on April 24, 1919. She died Monday, August 24, 2009 in the St. Mary’s Hospital in Enid.

Lena attended Cedardale grade school for eight years and Richmond High School for two years. She married Olen Porter Ford on December 29, 1937 at Cedardale. They lived at Curtis, then moved to a farm south of Quinlan. They remained south of Quinlan until 1957 when they moved to Mooreland. To this union were born: Jean Ann, Gerry Neil, Janice Marie and Ervin Keith.

Lena was devoted to her family. During all the years she lived on the farm and even after she moved to the town of Mooreland, she had huge garden plots and canned many jars of vegetables and fruits. She also sewed and made quilts for her family.

She was a member of the First Christian Church of Mooreland and of the Senior Citizens of Mooreland and was very active in both groups as well as other volunteer activities.

She is survived by two daughters, Jean and husband, Raymond Fuqua of Enid, Janice and husband Dick Comly of Hatboro, Pennsylvania; one son Gerry Ford of Vici; eight grandchildren, Duane and wife Novella Fuqua of Olympia, Washington, David and wife Robin Fuqua of Texline, Texas, Darryl Fuqua of Everett, Washington, Barry and wife Terri Ford of Woodward, Troy and wife Terry Ford of Sayre, Melony and husband Don Mooney of Sayre, Chris and wife Michelle Comly of Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, James and wife Cristina Comly of Downingtown, Pennsylvania; eleven great-grandchildren, David Fuqua Jr. And Cody Fuqua of Texline, Texas, Brynn Fuqua of Olympia, Washington, Adam Ford of Norman, Bryce and wife Leslie Ford of Woodward, Madison Ford and Taylor Ford of Sayre, Bo Slife of Sayre, Kristin Comly, Ali Comly of Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, William Comly of Downingtown, Pennsylvania; and one great great-grandchild Blaine Ford of Woodward.

She was preceded in death by her husband Olen "Happy" Ford in 1984 and one son Ervin Keith Ford in 2002.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church of Mooreland or the Mooreland Senior Citizens Center with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
