Funeral: 12:00 PM Friday, November 21st, 2014 Mooreland Cemetery
Charles “Allen” Ferry, 91 year old former Mooreland resident, passed away, Tuesday, November 18, 2014 in Wichita, Kansas. Graveside funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, November 21, 2014 in the Mooreland Cemetery with Reverend Mary Davis officiating. Burial will follow with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Charles Allen Ferry was born on September 27, 1923 in Piedmont, Kansas to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ferry. Allen was reared in Kansas and attended school in Howard, Kansas. He was united in marriage to Vera Mary Crowell on May 24, 1952 in Eureka, Kansas. They lived in Kansas before moving to Mooreland, Oklahoma in the early 1960's. Allen worked in the oilfield as a Pipeliner for many years until his retirement.
Allen was a hard working man and loved his family very much. He was a story teller and was always telling his grandchildren made up stories that they loved to hear. He loved planting a big garden and showing everyone it. He always enjoyed taking everyone through his garden and showing them what he had planted. One of Allen’s favorite things he loved to do was get up really early in the morning and he and Vera would drive through Boiling Springs looking for deer. Allen loved dogs and he and Vera always had one in their home, sometimes more than one.
Vera preceded him in death on December 31, 2000. Allen continued living in Mooreland for a few years but moved to Howard, Kansas to be closer to his son.
He is survived by one son, Chuck Ferry and wife Tyra of Kansas; one daughter, Cindy Testerman of Mooreland; one sister Alice Mortz of Loveland, Colorado; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Besides his wife, Vera he was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant son Joseph.
