Jerry O. Dunbar

December 28, 1926 ~ February 14, 2019


Jerry O. Dunbar, 92 year old Mooreland resident, died Thursday, February 14, 2019 in Oklahoma City. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 18, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church in Mooreland. Burial will follow in the Mooreland Cemetery with the United States Navy providing military graveside rites.

Jerry O’Neal Dunbar was born on December 28, 1926 in Mooreland, Oklahoma to Edwin and Anita (Roberts) Dunbar. He grew up in Mooreland and attended Mooreland High School. Jerry was inducted into the United States Navy in 1943 and served his country during World War II until being honorably discharged in 1945. He was united in marriage to Letha Rose (Ike) Ludden on October 10, 1945 at Curtis, Oklahoma. They were blessed with two children, Guy O’Neal and Susan Rose. Jerry and Ike made their first home in San Diego, California before moving back to Mooreland. Jerry and Ike formed Dunbar Livestock Transportation and continued working until retirement.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mooreland. Jerry enjoyed being with family and friends and traveling with the love of his life, Ike.

He is survived by one son, Guy Dunbar and wife Sharon; one daughter Susan Dakil and husband Louis; two granddaughters, Heather Wren Bradford, Kristin Leigh Bray and husband Barrett; three great-grandchildren, Madison Grace Bradford, Everleigh Rose Bray, and Olivia Belle Bray.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and the love of his life, Letha Rose (Ike) Dunbar on February 10, 2018.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Mooreland with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
