Woodward, Okla. — Lizzie Bien, 93 year old former Mooreland resident, died Friday June 1, 2012 at the Seiling Community Hospital. Graveside funeral services will be held Monday, June 4, 2012 at 9:30 A.M. in the Mooreland Cemetery. The Reverend Jason Dirks will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home of Woodward.
Lizzie Mae Bien was born on July 12, 1918 at Brownwood, Texas to Native Roger and Vera Lucinda (Sherrod) Fortson. She grew up in the Brownwood area and attended the Brook Smith School.
Lizzie was united in marriage to Harvey Bien on March 28, 1936 at Brownwood, Texas. They ranched and farmed near Brownwood until moving to Mooreland in 1957.
She was a member of the Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church and had served as a Sunday School teacher. Lizzie enjoyed attending church and being with her church family. In her free time she did crocheting and so loved visiting with her family and friends.
Lizzie Mae is survived by her daughter, Linda Shore and husband Merle of Woodward; her son Bill Bien and wife Sue of Sharon, Oklahoma, also numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harvey; two grandsons; one great granddaughter and a brother and sister.
