Roy Ball, 81 year old Mooreland resident, died Saturday, January 12, 2019 in Mooreland. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 17, 2019 at the First Baptist Church of Mooreland with Reverend Junior Zollinger and Reverend David Houchin officiating. Burial will follow in the Mooreland Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. with the family being present from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m.
Roy Lee Ball was born on November 17, 1937 in Ft. Lyons, Colorado to Lossie Harold and Opal (Patterson) Ball. Roy grew up on the family farm north of Mooreland and he graduated from Mooreland High School in 1958. Roy was united in marriage to Betty Minnick in Fargo, Oklahoma on November 25, 1967. They made their home in Mooreland. To this union, two children were born, Lynda and Brenda.
Roy spent his life working on the family owned farm. The same farm that his ancestors farmed since the early 1900's. He loved farming and ranching up until his death. In 1960, Roy completed Mechanics School at Southwestern.
Roy was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mooreland.
He is survived by two daughters, Lynda Ball of Mooreland, Brenda Swearingen and husband Robert of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two grandchildren, Hunter and Lane Swearingen; one brother Leonard Ball and wife Geri of Enid and several nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, his parents, Lossie and Opal Ball, one brother Louis Ball, in-laws, Leslie and Coralee Minnick, and brother-in-law, Dale Minnick.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mooreland FFA with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
