Albert N. AMES

April 16, 1942 ~ February 11, 2019

Albert N. Ames, 76 year old Mooreland resident, died Monday, February 11, 2019 in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 15, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church of Mooreland with Pastor Todd Bergman officiating. Burial will follow in the Mooreland Cemetery with the United States Army providing military graveside rites. Visitation will be at the Billings Chapel in Mooreland on Thursday, February 14, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Albert Norman Ames was born on April 16, 1942 in Mooreland, Oklahoma to Weber Durant and Blanche Willie (Lintner) Ames. Albert grew up in Mooreland and attended Curtis and Mooreland schools, graduating from Mooreland High School. Albert was inducted into the United States Army on August 12, 1965. He was an expert with the M-14 rifle and served his country during Vietnam and was honorably discharged in December of 1969.

He was united in marriage to Carolyn Kay Wayman on July 22, 1969 in Goltry, Oklahoma. They were blessed with one daughter, Gina and they made their home north of Mooreland. Albert farmed and ranched all of his life in the Mooreland area and earlier in life worked for a Aerial Crop Duster.

Albert attended the United Methodist Church. He was a Honorary Mooreland Chapter Farmer, a State Junior Master Farmer, received his Honorary State FFA Degree, was a member of the Mooreland Stock Show Board, and National Livestock Judging Team. He has served on the Woodward Fair Board, Farm Credit Board, Mooreland Stock Show Board, and was a Director of the Northwest Cattlemans Association.

He enjoyed looking for arrow heads in the canyons, fishing, tending to his cattle, playing on the beach, and most of all he loved being with his family, especially his grandson, Bryce.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn Ames of the home; one daughter Gina Marie (Ames) Carroll and husband J.C. of Edmond; one grandson Bryce Clayton Carroll; one brother Eldon Ames of Enid; one sister Dea Fields and husband Gary of Edmond; sister-in-law Pat Wayman of Goltry, Oklahoma; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents, Weber and Blanche, and his brother-in-law.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mooreland FFA with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
