Larry Sunderland, 58 year old former Woodward resident, died Tuesday, March 28, 2017 in Oklahoma City. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 31, 2017 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel in Woodward. Graveside funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. at the Liberty Township Cemetery in Nashville, Kansas.
Larry Keith Sunderland was born on December 17, 1958 in Almagordo, New Mexico to Don D. and Emma Janet “Jan” (Kingston) Sunderland. Larry grew up in Woodward and attended Woodward schools, graduating with the class of 1977. He attended OU, Southwestern, and Northwestern Oklahoma State University. After college he went to work for various oilfield companies, before going to work for William S. Key Correction Center in Ft. Supply.
Larry was united in marriage to Carla Hartman Clark on June 14, 1992. They made their home in Woodward. Larry continued working for William S. Key and retired after 24 years with them in 2016. He and Carla moved to Oklahoma City where Larry worked for O’Reilly’s.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Larry loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Carla Sunderland of the home; six children, Trenton Sunderland and wife Mandy, Tanner Sunderland and wife Kelly, Brady Sunderland and wife Ashley, Tyler Clark and wife Alisha, Tara Arnold and husband Brandon, Troy Clark and wife Britainee; nine grandchildren, Conner, Peyton, and Ethan Sunderland; Rylee, Reagan, and Ryann Arnold; Paisley and Paxton Clark; Ryker Clark; one brother, Don Sunderland and wife Laura; one sister, Tammy Spies and husband Steve; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
