WINNELL FAYE RANKIN

Cypress, TX, TX: (Special) – Graveside services for Winnell Faye Rankin, 91, of Cypress, TX will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 13, 2014 at the Lipscomb Cemetery in Lipscomb, TX with Rev. Floyd Thiessen, officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX.

Winnell passed away Thursday, December 4, 2014 in Cypress, TX.

Winnell was born July 27, 1923 in Lipscomb County to the late Mr. Ollie Scott and Mrs. Nel (Caseman) Scott. She attended grammar school at Plum Creek and graduated from Higgins High School. She then went on to receive her degree in Bachelor of Science in Education from Texas Tech University. She married Weldon Rankin on February 5, 1950 in Amarillo, TX. While living in Amarillo they owned Weldon’s Men’s Clothing Store from 1956 to 1961. In 1961, they moved to Lipscomb, TX to the home place where they farmed and ranched until 1997. In April of 1997, after the passing of Weldon, Winnell moved to Woodward, OK to be close to her daughter. In 2013, she moved with her daughter and son-in-law to Cypress, TX. While living in Lipscomb she was a member of the Lipscomb Union Church.

Winnell is survived by her daughter, Trish Shelton and husband Larry of Cypress, TX; her grandchildren, Gentry Shelton of Stillwater, OK; Kaylee Shelton Harper and husband Jason of Cypress, TX; Darrin Shelton and wife Tammy of Houston, TX; Heidi Shelton of Oklahoma City, OK; Mary Shelton Dobbins and husband Daniel of Claremore, OK; her great grandchildren, Kiran, Jacob, Jonathan, Kaitlyn, Gavin, Tawnie, Taitum, Kensey, Beth, Allie, Marydith and Madelin and two great-great-grandchildren, her sister-in-law, LaFaun Ward and husband Jack of Amarillo, TX and several nieces and nephews.
