Betty's Story

Betty Heath, 79-year-old Edmond resident and former longtime Woodward, OK resident, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving children on August 19, 2016. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 2pm, Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at Memorial Park Funeral Home in Oklahoma City. Burial services will be private.

Betty Rae (White) Heath was born on September 25, 1936 to Geraldine (Lightfoot) and Eldon White. She grew up and attended school in Woodward, OK. She was united in marriage to Hugh D. Heath, Jr. on June 25, 1954 at the First Baptist Church in Woodward. They were blessed with 4 daughters and 1 son. Betty was active in the VFW Women's Auxiliary and served as president. She worked for many years at Long-Bell Lumber and the Cherry Blossom Florist. Betty loved working with the public. She never met a stranger and had a gift of making everyone she came in contact with feel special. Her passion was reading. She always had a book on her lap or one nearby. She was interested in all subjects, especially history. She enjoyed traveling with her family, western swing music, and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They moved to Edmond, OK in 2005 to be closer to them.

She is survived by her children: Sandy Jividen, Susie Smith and Fenton Miles, Sheri and Levi Maples, Sidney Sears, and David and Maurine Heath; nephew, Tommy and Kim Heath; 13 grandchildren: Courtney and Guy Ramirez, Spencer and Julie Jividen, Jordann and Sean Clemence, David Smith, Travis and Cayce Smith, Kyle and Amanda Smith, Lori Dorshaw, Keith and Lori Simms, Brian Simms, Ashlee Maze, Jonathan and Lauren Maze, Zachary Heath, Zane Heath; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters: Darlene Sokolosky, Vicki and Kenny Woods, Rita Jo and David Barnett; cousin, Michael McDonald; and many other beloved family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh; parents, Eldon White and Geraldine and George Corbett; and sister, Barbara Delozier.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials be given to The Special Olympics.
