Donald W. “Donnie” Fowler, 67 of El Dorado passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 in El Dorado, Kansas. Celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, October 3, 2014 at First Christian Church. Cremation will be prior to the service.
Donnie was born on June 21, 1947 in Woodward, Oklahoma, the son of Alvin and Olive (Grove) Fowler. He graduated from Woodward High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Northwestern Oklahoma State University. Donnie was a teacher and coach at USD 490 for 32 years. While there he was a driver’s education teacher for EMS and EHS; taught social studies at EHS; the physical education teacher for the elementary schools as well as a golf and football coach for EMS and EHS. Donnie was a member of the Moose Lodge, the American Legion and enjoyed golf, pool and watching sports.
Survivors include his daughter, Darcy Fowler of El Dorado; his sister Wanda Merchant and husband Jack, his sister Ann Shuyler and husband F.W., his sister Alice Hale, his brother Dewaine (Sonny) Fowler and wife Sandy, his sister Alvina Janow and husband David, his brother Jim Fowler and wife Brenda, his brother Bobby Fowler and wife Diana, his brother Ronnie Fowler and wife Midge, His brother Danny Fowler and wife Goergette, good friends Harry and Gretah Arnold, Ruth Peterson, Mike Moore, Donnie Newman and many other buddies.
Nephews: Tim Albin, Lenny Albin, Jimmy Jon Janow, Albert Fowler, Robby Fowler who played golf and football with him. Also many more nephews and nieces.
He was preceeded in death by his parents Alvin and Olive Fowler, Sister Ellen Fowler, and a good friend Danny Ball.
