Woodward, Okla. — Robert E. "Bob" Nelson, 65 year old Woodward resident, died Monday, August 11, 2008 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 14, 2008 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Jay Custar officiating. Burial will be in the Gnadenfeld Cemetery near Fargo at 3:00 p.m. Friday, August 15, 2008 with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.

Robert Eugene "Bob" Nelson was born September 9, 1942 in Woodward; he was the son of James Robert and Wilda Jean (Rinker) Nelson. Bob grew up in Wichita, Kansas and graduated from Wichita High School in 1960. The family returned to the Woodward area soon after. He married Annette Marie Peil on June 9, 1968 in Woodward and they have resided in Woodward most of the years since. Bob worked in construction, specializing in painting and dry walling.

While Bob and Annette had no children of their own, "Uncle Bob" was a father to many. He loved spending time with family and friends, especially shooting guns and showing off his knife collection. His loving nature and sense of humor endeared him to all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Annette of the home in Woodward; brothers, Larry Nelson and wife Linda of Jonesborough, Tennessee; John Nelson and wife Joyce of Woodward; sister, Jeannie Wise and husband Darrell of Enid; sisters-in-law Karen White and husband Roy of Mutual; Lea Ann Gonser of Ft. Supply, LaVon Rippetoe and husband Rodney of Hollis; brothers-in-law Steve Peil and wife Kathe of Woodward; Dallas Peil and wife Carol of Woodward; special Aunt Carolina of Medicine Lodge, Kansas; 24 nieces and nephews; 30 great nieces and nephews; special friends and co-workers, Randy Glitsch, Michael Waggoner, Danny Knowing and Tim Cruse as well as many others in the construction business.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy and Billy Jean Nelson, his mother and father-in-law Ralph and Mary Peil.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Heart Research with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
