Wilma Jean Kornele, 86 year old Fort Supply resident, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2023 in Buffalo. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at the Fairlawn Cemetery, Fort Supply with Reverend Todd White officiating. Burial will follow with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Wilma Jean (Dickenson) Kornele was born January 30, 1937 to Charley and Hazel Dickenson on their family farm in rural Harper County, Oklahoma. At the young age of 21, Wilma met and fell in love with her future husband Donald "Guy" Kornele. They were united in marriage on February 17, 1958 at the First United Methodist Church in Fort Supply, Oklahoma.
Guy and Wilma were blessed with a son Michael and daughter Donna. Mike was a devoted son to both his parents and continued to care for his mom until her passing. He also took care of his dad during his long illness. During her life Wilma became an excellent seamstress and did beautiful crochet work. At a young age Wilma and her mom owned and operated a laundry mat and café in Fort Supply. She later was head cook at the Fort Supply School cafeteria.
She is survived by a son Michael Kornele of the family home; a daughter Donna Evans of Woodward who blessed Wilma with seven grandchildren: Tabitha Abbey, Brandon Evans, Tristan Evans, Georgia Evans, Savana Babb, Jeremy Evans and Lacey Evans; 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, JD Dickenson and wife Rhonda of Fort Supply; a sister Dixie Dudley and husband Bill of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. Wilma was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five sisters, Vada Wilson, Ruth Jones, Pearl Rodkey, Helen Baker, and Edith Bowman.
